The project Gene bank – the cornerstone for biodiversity conservation: development of new technologies for digitalization and process automation in storing plant genetic resources , SS06020208, is co-financed from the state budget by the Technology agency of the Czech Republic within the Programme for the Support of Applied Research, Experimental Development and Innovation in the Environmental Fields – Environment for Life. This project is funded under The Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The aim of the project is to develop a semi-automatic system for sample preparation and detection systems for highly efficient measurement of seed germination for large-scale testing of plant genetic resources (PGR) in gene banks. The automation of these processes will support the long-term preservation of PGR ex situ and contribute to the conservation and maintenance of biodiversity.Planned project results:
- Development of a semi-automatic system for sample preparation for large-scale testing of plant genetic resources (PGR) items in gene banks. Gene banks are crucial in the long-term preservation of PGR ex situ and thus contribute to the conservation and maintenance of biodiversity. The development of automation will enable the growth and more efficient functioning of gene banks.
- Development of detection systems for highly efficient measurement of seed germination primarily for large-scale testing of PGR items in gene banks.
