Experts to discuss cannabis
A discussion called About Cannabis, Without Prejudice will take place on November 23, at 7:00 pm in the Laudon Hall of Fort Science. Researchers and experts on cannabis issues will discuss the possibilities of using this exceptional plant in agriculture, industry and health care.
“We will talk about hemp seeds as superfood, hemp inflorescences and hemp products in veterinary and human medicine,” explained the organiser Petr Tarkowski from the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University, who will take on the role of moderator.
During the discussion, the organisers also want to touch upon the legislative changes that have taken place in the Czech Republic in 2021 or the new challenges in the field of quality assessment of hemp products. The current situation in agriculture will be presented by Marie Bjelková from Agritec Plant Research Šumperk, while the legislative news will be discussed by an independent expert Petr A. Polanský and the editor-in-chief of the magazine Magazín “Konopí” Lukáš Hurt. Václav Trojan from the International Clinical Research Centre of St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno and Radovan Hřib will discuss biomedical research and clinical practice.
“Cannabis has been a versatile crop for thousands of years. Since the 1950s, the abuse of the only small group of substances with psychoactive effects which this plant produces has prevented its wider use,” Tarkowski added.
