CATRIN took part in Konopex to talk about research and edification
“Cannabis: A Challenge or a Threat?” This was the title of the lecture given by Petr Tarkowski, a phytochemistry expert from CATRIN, at the 7th annual Konopex festival in Ostrava. Tarkowski also took part in a panel discussion during the event.
“In the lecture I introduced the research programmes of CATRIN and the Crop Research Institute (CRI) in the field of medicinal and technical cannabis. I focused on the areas of pharmacology, breeding, sustainable crop production and quality evaluation of cannabis for medicinal purposes,” said Tarkowski, describing his participation in the event.
In the panel discussion moderated by Robert Veverka, he and Tomáš Ryška from the Prague University of Economics and Business discussed education, popularization and edification. “I talked the audience through topics that appear in the final theses of Palacký University students and are related to cannabis, its risky use, social and health impacts of the use of cannabis and cannabis products, as well as topics related to cultivation, biological activity of natural substances and so on. The central topic, however, was academic freedoms, legislative restrictions and other complications in the education of young people in the field of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances,“ added the scientist.
